Last night I hosted our SWE grad girls happy hour (go women engineers, woo!) at a local bar, and as always, I have a funny story to tell..
We got complimentary valet parking, so as we were leaving I handed the guy doing valet my ticket.. and saw a pad of engineering paper on his table with a few problems on it.
Me: Getting homework done?
Him: Yeah.. just for my thermodynamics class..
Me: Oh, cool. Hey, that's a refrigeration cycle.
Him: :O
We ended up chatting for a bit, then he asked for my number. How is it that even guys I meet off campus are engineers? Am I doomed to date engineers forever? Sigh...

I'm posting. LOL..I just finished this poem. Dunno if it's good or not but I'm posting it nonetheless.

The smoke takes on a life of its’ own
I never noticed but here, it’s too damn cold
Now I can see how the smoke travels with intention
As the smoke wishes to escape the lungs and the resin
Coined, destroyed and adjoined to molecules made
Of where it began, “Better luck on the journey” I say
November is much too close to New Years for it all to last
To indifference, encumbrance and remembrance of crassness
It is far easier to start over
Than dabbling in mistakes
Of the past since missteps
Never last as the future creates
It’s too damn cold and the smoke
Is creating a life of its’ own

:)...I'm playing Dragon Age: Origins mostly. However Phantasy Star IV is the game i'm trying to finish on the PS3. I never did get to beat it on Genesis since my Aunt convinced my Momz that it was evil...lol.
Haha. Your Aunt was right! Good games though, always loved the music in those.
ReplyDeletePoems of abstract concepts are one thing, but when you pair those concepts with powerful imagery (like the smoke), I can feel what you're trying to express that much better. Good stuff.
Phantasy Star IV was my RPG "genesis" not just the console I initially played the game on. :)
ReplyDeleteEven embers need 02 to breathe. "Life" ever continues. :)
